Excellent”

If you are looking for a quite, relaxing and top quality resort in Ko Chang, then this is definitely the place. Built by the beach and between high and dense trees, Chivapuri resembles the combination of green nature and sea found in Ko Chang. The Resort is located in the south part of the island, near the fishing village Bang Bao (almost 30 minutes walking). With the exception of few other resorts nearby, Chivapuri is quite isolated and difficult to reach. So, if you want to visit the more crowded villages of the upper west side, be aware that it needs time and logistics. Nonetheless, the hotel provides everything and you can definitely spend some days and nights there, relaxing by the pool or by the beach, having massage at the beach, dining or drinking cocktails on the sand. Staff is extremely friendly and made our stay even better. Overall, Chivapuri is a true gem that reflects the exotic nature of the islands in Thailand.

Amazing resort, amazing holiday”

We stayed 9 days at the chivapuri resort on Koh Chang and we are perfectly satisfied! I visited a lot of Resorts/Hotels around the world but i've never seen such a friendly and courteous staff before! Everything was just fantastic - the outdoor facility, the rooms, the food and the beach! There is nothing i could criticize. Thank you Chivapuri Team for this amazing stay! We will come back for sure :)

secluded beach paradise”

Chivapuri is the most remote resort on the island, located at the Southern end of the main road. This provided the seclusion, quiet, and safety that we were looking for. There were only around 5 other guests at the resort at any one time, so we pretty much had the pool and beach to ourselves. Since its located far from the main tourist areas, you are guaranteed that there aren't any pickpockets, pan-handlers, or other unwanted people hanging around. The restaurant itself was simple and sparse. It provides basic sustenance, but nothing amazing. The breakfast is a simple American buffet - eggs, toast, bacon, sausages, fruit, and juice. Since we had a car, we ended up going out to eat for dinners. Located about 2km is the fisherman's village, where you can eat excellent, fresh seafood. My wife and I must have eaten 200 oysters during our stay. The biggest advantage of the resort, its seclusion, is also its biggest problem. Ko Chang is a very hilly island with treacherous roads. To get from the North to the South you must climb and descend several hills that exceed 45 degrees with curves in the ascent and descent. We had a 4x4 SUV, so it wasn't bad, but I saw many foreigners struggling on scooters. There are many taxis, all of whom drive way too fast. The beach bar at Chivapuri closes shortly after dark, so if you need evening entertainment, you must make your way down those treacherous roads. We always made sure to be back before dark, but I assume there are many injuries and deaths on those steep hillside curves after the bars close. We saw one foreign couple crash their scooter in front of us on a downhill slope during a sudden rain. The roads on this island are not safe. I gave the resort 5 stars for everything except features, solely because it is remote and there is nothing to do except swim in the ocean, swim in the pool, eat, and sleep. This was fine for our family and staff, but I can assume that someone looking for excitement would quickly get bore

Green and peaceful resort”

We were prepared for the slightly rocky last 1 km getting to Chivapuri from reading other reviews and had to pay the shared taxi driver an extra 200 Baht. Other than this our stay was problem-free and we found the mix of peaceful relaxation in a lush garden setting and access to nightlife at the nearby restaurants and bars that we were looking for. The temporary manager was friendly and helpful, as were the rest of the staff. Our "deluxe beach villa" room was spacious and conveniently located for the pool, beach and restaurant. We understand that the owners have plans to build another ten bungalows on the site for next year, which might change the character of the place. Currently the facilities are fairly lightly used and you can often have the pool to yourself. Others have commented that the food in the restaurant is mediocre and expensive. Although the prices are a bit higher than independent places nearby, they were no more so than you would expect from a resort and the standard of the food seemed to us to be good enough, though not exceptional. All in all, we were very happy with our choice in staying at Chivapuri.

Lovely aesthetics”

Chivapuri is delightful for a couple or family who love nature but wishes to be close to some life. The Bungalows are very tastefully designed, within groves of tall trees. The beach itself is not one for a long walk as are those further north, if you go right about 200 k facing the beach there is a sandy area for people to swim in. It is about a 20-minute walk to the village pier for local shopping ( ice , limes )which also has restaurants and bars. This means one does not have to always eat at the resort itself. The best thing about Chivapuri is that due to the planning, quality of architecture and space between the bungalows you don't feel as though you are living in a glorified caravan park which unfortunately is now the case with many mid and more expensively priced resorts. The staff were delightful. This is really a place for couples and families, not travellers.

Beautiful location and amazing staff”

We stayed here on our first stop on our holiday in thailand. The rooms was a welcome sight after a long flight. The room itself was stylish with beautiful wood work and attention to detail. The staff ensured we knew everything about the room and facilities when we arrived. The location is out of the main party drag which suited us fine, but if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere this is not the place for you. There is a lovely pool, which had a great view and loungers perfectly spaced out for an element of privacy. The food was lovely, fresh and not too expensive, having the dinner tables set up on the beach was a special experience. There is also an amazing masseuse right on the beach who was so talented and not expensive. The staff were so kind and helpful, eager to please. We had to catch a ferry to the out next destination, the sailing was only once a day. The hotel organised a transfer from the island to the other ferry port (around 3 hours In total), when they checked in with the driver to find out our progress, they realised due to traffic we would not make our outgoing ferry if we took the same car the whole way so they sorted out a car to meet us from the Koh Chang ferry to take us the whole way to the other ferry so we didn't miss it. they used their initative amd went above and beyond in our opinion. If you want a relaxing stay, in a beautiful location and to be taken care of by a warm of caring team of people I couldn't recommend this place more. We stay again!

Set expectations right and it is great”

Enjoying your stay at the Chivapuri is all about having the right expectations. Too high in one area or another and you will be unhappy. To summarize, Chivapuri is at the end of the road, literally, the very end of the road on Ko Chang. It is remote, and you feel that. So if being remote is your goal, great. Bars and nightlife are just a ways back up that road if you need them, but if you stay in the resort, it is quiet and quite lovely. The food is mediocre. The beer is cold. The rooms are big, well appointed and the beds very comfortable. The pools is a welcome treat, after snorkeling on the reef. Go to get away from it all, and you are fine. Go to have a big time, knosh some tasty, well made food, and you will be disappointed. We had a great time. A few suggestions. Enjoy a massage from the lady on the beach at resort, she was very good at her job. Go snorkeling - facing the beach, walk to the right toward the other hotels, and when you get to the tree that sticks well out in the beach, swim out with mask... go to the back wall of the reef and see the coral, its not National Geographic quality, but fun just the same. And kayak to the left over to what we called Sad Harbor - a failed resort where they docked a big cruise ship, now rusting away - it gives a feeling of the apocalypse. Enjoy.

Fantastic Hotel , great for honeymooners”

we arrived for a 10 night stay on the beach for our honeymoon and as soon as we were shown to our villa we loved it. absolutely was the right hotel, all the staff have been very helpful especillay our waiter (long) he was fantastic. fodd in the resteraunt was very good and never had to wait to long for our food. the villa was always kept clean during our stay . we will definately be back really enjoyed chivapuri beach resort.

The resort itself is an hours drive from the Ferry port along the Islands only road. Impossible to avoid, for the nervous it is a pretty precarious drive up and down some very steep twisting and turning hillsides. Unfortunatly we arrived here at 22:30pm and the restaurant had already closed. The staff however went out of their way to prepare us a meal which was then served on the private beach, and the staff also stayed after hours to serve us! The room was excellent, a very large Thai style second floor bungalow merely a minutes walk from the beach. The bathroom was luxurious with a huge bath. The room was quiet and the aircon very efficient. There is also a remote controlled fan high up in the teak clad ceiling. The bed, by usual Thai hard-mattress standards, was very comfy and was complete with mosquito net. Breakfast was as you would expect, buffet style with a choice of cereal, eggs, bacon, salads, cakes, croissants, juices, tea and coffee. The beach is lovely when the tide is in but when out it was marred by coral which makes getting to the deeper water quite tricky. This isn't really a problem however as there is a lovely pool in the gardens right next to the beach with fountains and 'jacuzzi' which you can use to cool off. The hotel has a very good food & drink menu, prices are reasonable for a resort such as this and everything we ate was delicious. For couples there isn't much more romantic than eating your dinner by candlelight on a quiet beach with just the sea and stars for company. What really made this hotel were the staff, they couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Due to arriving so late on our first night the manager offered us a free late check out and nothing was too much trouble. Throughout our short stay here they went a long way towards reiterating why Thailand is known as The Land of Smiles. If it is peace and tranquility you are looking for then this is highly recommended to all.

Ideal location for escaping the crowds”

If you plan to escape the crowds in Thailand, this hotel is ideally located in the South West part of Koh Chang, while being near to the village and allowing all kind of activities (diving, trekking...). The white sand beach is great and never too crowded. The rooms are new and very clean. Overall experience is very good, and it is the only 4/5 stars hotel of the beach. On a less positive side: many garden bungalows have a view on the wall of a beach front bungalow, which is not acceptable for a hotel of this standard. The hotel personel is truely friendly but lacks formal training. The food is good but is the most expensive of the whole beach, and we could regret the absence of fresh fruit juice. Overall the restaurant is not on par with the others in the area.

Clean Quiet Getaway.”

the bad night life: if you are looking to party and have a night life this is not the resort for you.. it’s as far away from everything as you can get. (party areas are north west coast this resort is located on the south coast look at the map) beach: there were large rocks and coral that made it hard to swim, this being said there was a small area we were able to get in and it was nice enough. internet: slow and drops out this bothered us the first day then it was nice to be disconnected from the rest of the world. the good we stayed here for 7 nights, at first we felt that it was too far from everything and would look at something else a little closer to town, though we never bothered changing after spending a few nights riding “scooter” into a drinking/ eating area we found that it was nice to be tucked away without the sounds of drunks. recommend: hiring a scooter when you get there “no more than 150baht a day” this will save you time and money when wanting to go somewhere. room: the room was clean and tidy, cleaners were very good taking note not to move personal items. staff: the staff had a really nice welcoming feel and were more than helpful. pool: the pool was kept very clean, i think this would have to be the cleanest pool in the whole of thailand. beach: there were large rocks and coral that made it hard to swim, this being said there was a small area we were able to get in and it was nice enough. food: the restaurant was good, but a short trip you will find better.

Instand favorite for Koh Chang”

We had a great time at Chivapuri. It was quiet as we went midweek in the low season. One rainy day where we had a great walk in strong wind on a very empty beautiful beach. The other day was great weather, and we enjoyed the lovely swimming pool. Special thanks to the friendly staff and the great cook. The food was top quality for a very reasonable price, it can match some of the good local restaurants we have here in Bangkok. If you are looking for a busy beach and night life, this is not the place to be. If you want a beach for yourself and a great place to relax, then this is your place. As we life in Bangkok it will be easy to go back, and we will definitely be there again. Just have to find the time for it

the loveliest beach i've been to in thailand.”

this resort is managed by a wonderful caring couple. the pool is glorious and the white-sand beach is a few steps away from your room. at christmas time there was plenty of night life along the beach - i travelled with my adult son who found plenty of parties. the seafood at the pier is so fresh and cheap-the best i have ever had. just be sure that your driver finds out how to get to reception and is prepared to take you there. if you get taxis from the pier they don't like to take you down the track to the hotel, but will do so at a bargained price. if you don't have heavy bags, its a short walk along the beach from the road at the top of the beach and taxis can be found there all the time at peak periods. hire a motor bike and you have no worries. this hotel is no longer isolated as earlier reviewers have stated.

Excellent Resort ”

The location is great, especially if you are looking for a nice beatch with some privacy, which is getting rare on Koh Chang. Have been there in November 2018 and unfortunately there is some construction going on, so the beach will probably not be so exclusive anymore in near future.

Private, cozy and peaceful”

The location is quite far from the port of koh Chang and difficulty to drive in to the hotel. The road is still the rock ground but still connect with the main road. It's located at the end of main road but there many high hill from main road to reach there and take 10-15 minute to drive into unfinished road. Motorcycle is fine but 4 wheel car need to be careful. Hotel is quite private location and peaceful with friendly staffs. It's modern thai resort style. The room and rest room are quite comfortable and big. It divided to be upper and lower room fro one building. It's very peaceful and cozy to walk around and along the beach. Swimming pool is not too big but very nice and located in front of the beach. Dinning area is on the beach and so romantic.

\Good staff, Too quite, Disappointing Breakfast”

My stay was good. The staff was very good. Breakfast was good but too small. Dinner took long time but was very good and the price was alright. Location (1:30hr from the main pier in Koh Chang + 1km walking). If you like calm, then it's perfect. I was there as couple but I missed a bit more night-life. The beach is nice in the afternoon but way too many rocks that you can see in the morning. For the beach I recommend Lonely beach, 50-100meter to walk without stones but just sand. To summarize: What this hotel offers is good but pricy. I expected more although my stay was good but I bit too calm.

i never thought my stay will be so romantic. the rooms so decently priced for the 5 star fun. just on the sandy beach. perfect place for honeymooners or couples ;) though its away from the main koh chang market but my kind of place :)

Nice Hotel in a quiet area”

i think we found this hotel by chance, its right at the end of koh chang island which is about 30 - 45 minutes drive from the popular beach areas, however we found it very relaxing, calm and nice beach area. the hotel manager and owner are friendly and looked after us well. inside the villa was nicely decorated, the two seperate bed rooms, each with its own bathroom were very useful as the kids were able to have their own room.

Where you want the private place for relaxation”

the overall is quite good, the room is quite big,clean, new. swimming pool is impressive where you can swim while watching the sea view at the same time, the beach is also quite good, hard to find a nice beach here at ko chang. here might not be top notch but its ok for ko chang. the only downside is the place is quite remote,really really hard to get there, you wouldn't want to go outside during the nite, really dangerous driving in that condition. its the place for anyone who looking for quite place for relaxation with beach and sea sighting.
