Beachside stay”

Stayed 4N at Camelot upon our arrival in SL. Hotel is right on the beach and has 2 reasonably-sized pools. Check-in and check-out were both quite smooth. Housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff were very hospitable and friendly - one of the reasons we love coming back. Camelot offers clean and comfortable rooms are a reasonable price. Two things they could improve on: (a) Supply a box of tissues in the room (pretty simple request and costs next to nothing) (b) 2 bottles of water are supplied in each room, anything extra is chargeable. Suggest not to have this limitation. Breakfast was good with a decent mix of local delights and Western food. Price of F&B was quite reasonable (though no doubt it will be cheaper outside). Negombo town is a 10 min tuk-tuk ride away. We also had a massage onsite. Although price was relatively cheap (USD 30 for 60min), service was average plus there is no aircon and the cubicles don't have adequate privacy. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Great location”

Great hotel to finish our touring around Sri Lanka at. Negombo is a little more expensive than other areas we have traveled to, but good value meals can be had a few minutes walk from the hotel. Eating/drinking at the hotel is expensive, 300SLR for a bottle of water (the same can be bought across the road for 70SLR). But the hotels facilities are great, two (very clean) pools and direct views/access to the beach front. Breakfast is varied and plentiful. The room was clean, but the temperature of the hot water varied between tepid and hot, day depending. Definitely get a sea view room to make the most of the great sun sets!

Best place ever! ”

This hotel is amazing, it was my favourite one during our stay in Sri Lanka. The location is so good, you have the beach at your front door and the shops/restaurants on the other. The staff are amazing especially the staff at the pool/beach bar. I can't thank you enough for looking after us, you guys are a gem! Negombo is the best place to stay in, I'm so glad I've came to this beautiful place.

A good place to stay for a day or two”

We stayed here the last night of our three week stay in Sri Lanka. We chose Negombo beach for beach access and ease of airport transit. The hotel seems to cater to tourists on a package basis (not our preferred mode of travel). Guests seemed interested in staying on the hotel grounds, using the pools as much as the beach. The room was clean and pleasant. There was a wide range of European and Sri Lankan foods at the breakfast buffet. Staff was friendly and helpful, and were quite flexible in accommodating our late arrival and departure needs.

Relaxing hotel to spend time and relax ”

I stayed a week. I found the hotel to be very good and enjoyed my time there. Breakfast was very good with lots of offerings . They serve lunch and dinner too but I didn't have any. The room was large and spacious. Clean and really pleasant. Wifi was strong and theres loads of TV channels. I was on the ground floor and sometimes the band noise at the pool was a bit loud . Hot water was great and powerful too, the air conditioning was also top notch. Location wise theres a lot of restaurants and tourist shops/agencies along the main road out front . I felt very safe whenever I was out as most locals are friendly. The hotel foyer is a bit dated and could use a refresh. I approached the front desk staff for some local advice in regards to the vendors on the beach but the were very hesitant to help. They just quoted there not hotel vendors. I knew that , but i needed some local advice on what / how to deal with them as they usually waiting at the entrance to the beach.

Relaxing stay to end holidays in Sri Lanka”

Stayed here for 1 night at the end of a two week trip around Sri Lanka. Negombo is close to the airport and a cheap tuktuk ride/taxi which makes is a great place to end a holiday. Conveniently placed right outside the hotel are souvenir stores and a phone store that sells stamps. There is a mail box at the hotel to post last minute post cards. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable. There are two pools with a nice view of a beach. The breakfast available was delicious with a wide range of food options.

Nice hotel but bad beach”

Hotel is good, food is OK. Coctails good. Enought sunbeds and towels. Drinking water they leave in the room or sell during meals is bad and taste like plastic. Newly renovated rooms are good, confortable. Best is the AC, because not blowing straight to the bed, that is common in Sri Lanka. Also thick blankets was super. Enjoied finally chilly night sleeps. Beach is bad, water brown and waves. Everybody was around the pools. Beach was empty. Good hotel for before or after flights but not for full vacation. Enjoyed full board. Fustrating was, that you had to pay for water during meals. Its not so expensive, but always problems to sighn the bills and water was not tasty. Be aware, that during check out they charge you also about the food, drinks that was not ordered. They do not give you any copy of the bills, so hard to keep everything on mind. Bar orders took sometimes up to 1 hour.

Great location, old rooms, great staff, good food”

We had an enjoyable time. The rooms are a bit outdated and musty. However, the included breakfast was excellent and generous with a mix of Eastern and Western food choices. The pools are absolutely stunning and relaxing. Staff are helpful. It's pretty easy to find, being one of the larger hotels on the beach in Negombo. We felt safe and cared for. We also appreciated the staff.

A good find”

Stayed here with family for a short getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Camelot was a random selection as no one we knew had ever been here but it was definitely a good find. The service was very good (apart from a delay in picking up used dishes after we ordered room service). The room and washroom were clean, comfortable and spacious. Though there weren't too many options at the buffet, the food was very nice. The hotel is undergoing renovations at present but this had absolutely no impact on our stay.

The hotel is very good with lovely beach location and good food. All the staff were good and helpful, but I would especially like to thank Anne the receptionist. She is a very helpful and talented person who took care of us. Hotels recommended. Thanks to Camelot hotel for a great stay.

Great place to unwind and lounge in the beach”

We had a hectic 12 day trip across Sri Lanka, by road and went many excellent places and enjoyed the scenery, history and culture very much. Last part of our trip was to the Bentota beach and I was ready to just rest for a day or so. We found this hotel to be at an excellent location, safety wise solid as the baggage are checked before we take a short ferry to hotel, great dinner and breakfast, friendly staff, not to mention the great private beach and many other activities around. After one day of lounging, I was back on my feet for the next 2 days there and rest of thetrip

nice hotel”

Camelot is not a very big hotel but really clean and tidy. We arrived nealy 2:00 am, the staffs were still waiting us at counter. 2 swimming pools open from 9:00 to 20:00. Nice place for vacation!

very good Hotel and value for the money”

we spent a night at hotel Camelot , and thw environment was very calm and peaceful. facilities were good. breakfast was good and there were no great options but it was really taste.

good hotel, ideal first night in Sri Lanka ”

Hotel arranged pickup which was very efficient, waiting for us at the airport, helped change money on the way to the hotel to get a better deal, most helpful. Hotel room was very good, exactly as shown on tripadvisor, right on the beach, swimming pool. The room was right next to the restaurant but as we were getting up early was not an issue, but perhaps if you wish a lie in ask for one away from the restaurant. Food on the evening was a buffet but we choose a local seafood place a few doors down from the hotel. Breakfast was good. Went swimming on the first evening, but the sea was quite strong as late season, but warm. A good hotel, friendly staff, close to the airport a great fist night as it avoids the traffic in Colombo, which is terrible. I would recommend staying here. The only negative is the shower has no tray or containment so the whole bathroom floor gets wet. Universal power sockets so English plugs worked fine, in fact this is common in all the hotels we stayed in.

Very good”

Nice hotel , very nice swimming pools, lots of sun beds. Food was good too. We stayed at New Year’s eve, they have provided Gala dinner, with a very nice setup, live music and fireworks. However, we booked a room with a balcony, but on arrival we been told there are no balcony rooms available, so we been given a room without a balcony, even though, another couple checked in after us been given exactly the same room with a balcony. Air conditioner very noisy. Hotel is right on the beach, but if you want a beach holiday, better choose different location, as the sea is a bit rough.

Perfect room, beach, pool, restaurant and staff. Try spa on the other side of the street, working together with the hotel - Golden Hands. From stress - to calm in just a few treatments. They really have GOLDEN HANDS!

Fantastic place to stay & brilliant staff”

The location, rooms & facilities were fantastic! Even better were the staff & the amazing buffet! My husband & kids who are foreigners loved the European selection provided. There was a good mixture of local & European food. The pool’s were clean & beautiful! Short walk to beach. Absolutely enjoyed our stay and would be definitely visiting again.
