Paradise”

Barali is perfection. I have never stayed anywhere better, as relaxing and inspiring, or felt so safe. The location is divine with only a few people enjoying the pretty palm tree beach and calm sea. The silky smooth fine white sand beach is postcard perfect encompassing the delightfully calm archipelago ambience. The entire Klong Prao bay is sheltered so has tiny waves with crystal clear water. The sea is warm and it's possible to walk out a long way before it becomes too deep to stand. On our first day two photo shoots were happening up the beach as we walked towards a gentle fascinating estuary with glow flies at dusk. The hotel is mosquito controlled. I think the resort was fully booked but it was silent and difficult to realise any one else was staying. Motorbikes are available and it is easy to explore waterfalls, amazing unique piers or 'trendy', slightly busier, beaches. I enjoyed seeing White-Bellied Sea-Eagles, fishing and Bhaminy Kite. The Barali breakfast house is five star architecturally. The food is brilliant and the polite and respectful staff are ten star! The pool is perfection too. Our large house was like stepping into a scene from tomb raider because the marble bath and shower are as big as an en-suite private swimming pool. It is not possible to describe in English words the sophistication of this resort. So just don't tell any one about this secret paradise. Nathan Craske

Barali Resort”

Barali Beach Resort seemed a mystery to most people we spoke to On Koh Chang. No one seemed to know where it was, but they should. Barali was excellent, with a great location on a nice beach. Our bungalow was adorable, with a unique and charming bathroom design. The beachfront offered many eating and drinking options, which was good. The pool was small, but has a Jacuzzi with soothing jets. Breakfast was satisfactory, but not the best we had on Koh Chang by a long shot. The resort is very quiet and the staff blends into the background for complete privacy. We really enjoyed it here and found few things to complain about. The wifi worked well and we thought the grounds had a lovely layout and design. The strangest part about Barali is the check-in area. It looks like it belongs at a 1 star hostel, rather than a four star resort of this caliber. The area is hotter than hot, stark and uninviting, which is not the case with the rest of the resort, for sure. We recommend it here.

Lovely hotel in perfect beach”

This was our second time in Barali,the location is perfect,Klong Prao beach is in great place, just few minutes from restaurants and shops. Staff were polite and friendly, breakfast buffet generous, plenty of warm foods,noodels,omelets etc. Our deluxe villa was clean and spacious and we had a partial sea view (villas 119&121). We hired motorbikes from reception, only 200thb/day, recommed. All in all very relaxing holiday and would choose Barali again if going to Koh Chang for holiday.

Reasonably priced hotel”

I’ve previously stay twice at the Centara Tropicana next door but that was a bit expensive for this trip as I was paying for an extra 2 family members. This was just a couple of days holiday as I live in Thailand. Obviously the Barali Beach resort isn’t as large but for the price I think it’s pretty good. If you’re not thinking of going out from the hotel then you might find a larger hotel better but if like us you intend exploring Koh Chang then it’s fine. There’s a very good pool and of course it’s right on the beach as well. You d need to be careful of the rocks though as it’s shallow a long way out and they can be very sharp. I found if you go to the left just past the inlet it’s not so bad. It’s a pity as apart from that it’s a wonderful beach. I’m not one for laying on beaches but just lying in the water which is very warm is great. The rooms which were premier deluxe were very good and large. Some people find the beds in many Thai very hard but as I’m used to it I find it OK. The food at breakfast was fine although not as much variety as a larger hotel of course. Certainly a hotel I would be happy to return to.

Quiet lonely location with lovely rooms”

when we first arrived at barali we were thrilled about the room which were comfortable and absolutely beautiful. especially the bathroom is amazing with a feeling of showering in the nature. had this been our first stay at koh chang we probably wouldn't have any complaints at all but as the case was, we had been staying at a resort on white sand beach right before and we couldn't help comparing. klong prao beach is a very quiet location (we were there out of season but still compared to white sand beach) which can be very nice but it felt quite deserted sometimes. barali is a bit far from... everything. you have to walk 600 metres to get to the main road where there are a few restaurants, travel agencies, and shops (one 7-eleven). it's great if you want to relax and the walk is nice but if you want to explore there's not really enough to see. the resort is right at the beach which is very nice but because of the tide you have to walk for a 100 metres or so during the day to get to the water and in the evening you can't walk along the beach because the water goes all the way up to the resort. we were a bit disappointed with the breakfast buffet which was small and you had to fight the ants for it. a great selling point is that you can order breakfast from a menu and they make it fresh for you. and that was really delicious. the staff is very friendly and there are not too many so you begin to recognise faces which is always very nice. you can definitely have a lovely stay at barali but we preferred our stay at white sand beach and i think you can get better value for the money elsewhere.

Great hotel, lovely staff and wonderful location”

The Barali beach resort is very well maintained and in a top location on the beach. Rooms are a good size and are designed to blend well into very beautiful landscaped gardens and environment. I loved the restaurant on the beach with superb uninterrupted views of the water. Very pleasant at breakfast time! Hotel staff were very friendly and always had a smile to greet you. I will definitely go back.

Excellent, good breakfast,helpful staff arranged motorbike, and direct transfer door to door to Bangkok hotel (900 baht pp inc ferry), beautiful pool, right on the beach yet quiet spot, only a short walk to several beach restaurants, one has fire show, hotel open air restaurant also on the beach and good quality not expensive for hotel of this quality very helpful service too. Here you can get good beef steaks,although not large, for 350 baht. Good quiet room,deluxe villa, but hard bed,nice bathroom.2 suites have private plunge pools..but not on offer on agoda,although not occupied during our stay..enquire direct? Extended our stay by an extra night was cheaper by agoda than thru lobby. Overall just what we wanted at competitive price. So, thanks Barali!

best villa style resort on Koh Chang”

- very nice grounds, beautiful gardens, clean and uncrowded beach. - staff very polite and always smiling, although lacking some good english. - food in the bar and restaurant is not pricey, good quality but small choice. - average breakfast. - nice SPA, but never tried it, so can't compare with others. prices start from BHT 800 etc. - hotel is completely silent at night which is very good for sleeping. you can get live music everynight in the neighbouring Tropicana Resort (where you can also have a nice buffet dinner). - good beach and pool, lots of umbrellas and sunbeds, but beware of rocks in the water. overall, one of the best hotels in Koh Chang.

nice bungalows, nice location (the beach! - no problems with sandflies by the way), very good breakfast and nice staff. would stay there again, it's a good choice somewhere between basic bungalows and huge five star resorts which you all find at Klong Prao. Not far from the village, good options for dinner nearby.

Perfect! Best Hotel around!”

After trying many hotels in Koh Chang we found the Barali...it is the Best around as not too big and not too small..the staff was very smiley and attentive..trying their very best to help the guest. We highly recommend it the rooms and Bathrooms are Gorgeous!! no need to mention also very clean...Russians Guests have not yet invaded that hotel (why staff are still smiling and nice!) we will definitely get back to that place!! Loved it-

Great stay in perfect location....except last day”

All was very good in Barali....location is perfect, room was perfect, beach not crowded at all, staff was nice although could improve English. We had great support from the manager (we believe its the manager), very available to help and attend our requests. Last day, when checking out, we were obliged to pay for one of the beach towels. We lost one of the towels, maybe in the swimming pool or on the resort beach....most probably taken by one of the workers of the resort. In such a resort you dont expect to pay for a beach towel....otherwise they should inform you in the beginning. Pragmatically if you loose you can be obliged to pay but I was really disappointed with this approach...this is not how you fidelize your clients.

good hotel in all but rooms without a window”

good hotel on the whole, but the price may be a little high nice beach, wonderful hotel decorations, lovely swimming pool, servants are pleasant and helpful located on khlong prao beach, not so many stores and tourists as that on white sand beach.

A perfect gem ”

The perfect place to unwind. Superbly located on the beach, the room was beautifully equipped, cleaned every day and we really appreciated the extra touches such as the provision of clean beach towels and a beach bag. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of excellent and varied choices. Situated on a beautiful soft,white sandy beach with lots of tropical plants and shady palms. An eight minute stroll takes you to the main road where there are a few shops, eating places, ATMs and markets. Local white taxis and tuk tuks will take you quite cheaply to other places but we hardly moved away from that area during our week's holiday. It was all that we wanted. The staff worked hard making the complex a clean and comfortable resort for guests. A little corner of paradise.

Well rounded resot”

You may find a somewhere that is better in some ways than The Barali but you will be let down in other ways. For me the Barali Resort ticked all the boxes and I could no fault it in any way. Beautiful place, Beautiful staff, Beautiful food. Guess what? We had a Beautiful time : ).

Paradise beach and hotel but staff need to improve”

Barali hotel is on the very nice Ao Phraw beach (a bit further from the mainstream White Sand Beach so it is quiter and the beach is better quality : espacially the view form the private hotel beach is wonderful). The rooms are very confortable (good point for the very nice bathroom design). The hotel restaurant is OK (very good BBQ seafood but sometimes some Thai dishes are too much westernized...). The main problem of this hotel is the staff which is not as nice and helpful as in other hotels even cheaper ones (even when my Thai wife was asking for something so it is not only a language issue...). It is also difficult to find so please note that it is close to the Tropicana Centera.

Very good”

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Barali Beach Resort. We were happy with overall set up of the hotel i.e. location, environment, landscape, service and cleanliness. After the first night we noticed that both my husband and I were bitten by some sort of insect so we checked with the manager as to what could that be, and we were told that it's "sand flea". The manager asked if we brought coconut oil with we said NO as we were not informed in advance that we should be prepared for sand flea and we should bring coconut oil with. It was a minor thing but it somewhat irritated as my husband was badly bitten. On our last day for breakfast, we were told that there is no breakfast buffet only a la cart as there were guests for 4 rooms which is understandable. We were surprised that there were only 1 temp, Khun P.P, and 1 Cook who were on duty that morning. Khun P.P was trying her best to accommodate every guests' requests and making sure everybody was happy. Although we had to wait a bit longer and after 2-3 following up we finally got our order. We gave Khun P.P good compliment which she was very happy and much encouraged. However, we were not sure if the manager at the lobby got our point when we told her to recognize Khun P.P's performance give her support by not leaving her to handle guests all by herself.

Great hotel with friendly staff”

Lovely stay. The straff were friendly, really nice and quiet beach with plenty of places to grab a snack or go for dinner. Breakfast at the Barali was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly. I would also recommend the spa.

Perfect for a beach wedding”

We stayed here to have a beach wedding. The staff did a great job, it was a beautiful ceremony, and the location was perfect. My only small complaint with the resort is that selfish guests are allowed to "claim" unoccupied beach chairs for hours at a time by leaving a towel on them. I would suggest the resort do something to make it more fair for all guests who want to use the chairs by the beach and pool.

Wow, what a wonderful resort on the water”

We had such a wonderful time at Barali Resort. The restaurant right on the beach is lovely in the evening with the waves crashing down.
