“A great deal, but...”
Overall: Definitely worth staying here for the room, despite check-in frustrations. I don't enjoy writing mixed reviews, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to do that here. It may be because I'm old-school and like to have people to talk to when I check in, but I'll get back to that later. First, the good stuff: The location was not far from the train station in Miyajimaguchi, and was quite close to the JR Ferry, so if you're there to travel to the island, it's a great spot. The room is VERY big, particularly for the price, and the two beds were comfortable if a bit surprisingly soft. There was an assortment of various bathroom supplies provided (beyond what hotels usually offer), as well as incidentals like tea packets and that kind of thing. Everything was clean, neat, and tidy, and there was a booklet with instructions on how to use various things such as the projector. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with everything one would expect to find. Overall the room was great. So thank you for that! Now for the not-so-great stuff: One minor nitpick was that the projection TV had a huge black spot projected, and it was clearly a whole bunch of dead pixels. Additionally, it wasn't very bright, so unless you're watching a movie with the lights off, it might be hard to see. But the real thing that got me was the check-in process. I followed the directions, but their ipad was being stubborn at first (I'm not an ipad user, so it's possible this is partly my fault for not knowing how to navigate a home screen, but in my opinion, one should press the 'on' button and immediately be taken to the check-in screen, not have to LOOK for the icon for it). Since I initially couldn't get the ipad to work, I tried using my phone, which worked until I got to the part about "taking a photo of your passport" bit, at which point their web page would not let me use anything but the selfie cam. Have you ever tried taking a photo of a passport, CLEARLY, with the selfie cam? I couldn't. Nor would it let me proceed even after I got a passable photo (at which point I fired off a frustrated email to the contact, because I can't make calls to Japanese phone numbers). Anyway, it eventually worked out, but not before I'd gotten extremely frustrated to the point of considering looking for somewhere else to stay. In the end I'm glad I didn't, but just make sure you're well versed with ipad operations if you decide to stay here. :)
