location, spottles, quiet

we stayed there 4 nights in november, the hotel and a couple of restaurants were the only thing i liked at koh samed. it looks like koh samet was a beautifull island but the attendence of so many tourists/people made it luck of cleanless. Honestly the hotel is a great deal.specially for the money. i would definetlly stay again in this hotel :)

Nice room and kind service”

Near the pier, new, kind service

Ban Rak Samed Hotel it's a new guest house located near the pier. It suits you if you need a comfortable place where taking your time, without the rush of moving around the island on a taxi or a motorbike. It's not the laid back place where join the relax of the beach, but it's clean, without mosquitos and 10 minutes walk from the first beach. Ui, the girl managing the place, is very nice. We walked from the pier to the Hotel despite our heavy luggage, you don't need the taxi.

Clean, large room, friendly staff, close to beach.”

Nice room, fast Internet, friendly staff

I was at Ban Rak Samed for 3 nights and everything went well. The staffs were friendly and attentive. You can be at the beach in 5-10 minutes walk and the 7-11 is not too far. I'd recommend this hotel to any backpackers who look for affordable price with a good quality.

Good value for money spent”

Nice and new rooms, nice terrace in upper rooms, in walking distance to central street, port and beach.

Ban Rak Samet hotel looks pretty new and even had some wrapping plastic around the electric sockets. The hotell location was perfect for us, because you could walk everywhere from there. It is about 100m from the "main street" and 500m from beach. The terrace was nice even though it was a shared one with rooms on the same floor. We had our own little balcony too but we did not use it. Only minus was the greenish / brownish water which gave away some bad odors from the plumming. Still it did not slow us using the water and in the end it was a really nice stay. The staff was friendly and helpfull, even though they didn't speak english more than few words.

Good location and clean room”

Rooms are cool, clean, nice

our stay was very pleasant. our room was clean, nicely designed and despite only having a fan... a cool room that was quite spacious. staff were not unfriendly but could maybe be a little more friendly. there is a short walk from the main road to the hotel which is partly flooded with months of rotting, floating items in it. would maybe be nice if that could be drained so guests dont have to try not to step into it while getting to and from hotel. hotel is a short walk from the resort and beach (5 min walk). close to many restaurants.

Lovely hotel at a great price”

The price, the rooms, and the location

the hotel and the rooms were beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. the rooms were of a really good size and everything was brand new. sai keaw beach is about five-ten minute walk away, but it's quite nice to stay a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the beach. internet was a little sketchy but that is probably due to the internet on the island. i'd pay double what we paid for staying here! grab yourselves a bargain!

Lovely, simple new clean hotel”

New clean bedding and furniture. Inexpensive,

this is a nice hotel, and i enjoyed my stay. its not on the beach or even by the beach for that matter, but its not a far walk. if you want to be in the busier part by the beach, this isn't for you. but if you want to be about a 5-10 minutes walk to the beach, and little food spots, but in a quiet spot, this may be more for you. i enjoyed my stay here, and have nothing negative to say about my stay. except.... sometimes the person who worked there would be hard to find. she would disappear for periods of time, but other than that i would recommend this hotel.

Comforting”

Accessible, Clean, Quiet

My mom and I were on a holiday trip in Koh Samed. It was our first time in the island for the both of us. Finding the hotel was not hard since it's only a walking distance from the pier and to the beach as well. The only trouble we got was the street going to the hotel because it was raining for a week before we arrived so the streets were all muddy. The good thing is that the soil is not that soft so whenever we step, our feet didn't sink. The hotel room was ok. I was on a budget so the room was perfectly fine for us. The bed was huge and comfortable enough and the room was clean. We were just there to sleep since we spent all day at the beach.

New and clean rooms but shame about the drains!”

New rooms and furniture

This was the second time we stayed here and it is a really nice hotel. The rooms are clean and all brand new; most things still have plastic on them. It's walkable to the beach and in a nice quiet area. The big thing is the drainage problem. Further down the road it looks like a drain is overflowing ehich results in the bathroom drains smelling dreadfully! Going into the bathrooms is extremely unpleassabt which is a shame because the bathrooms are new and clean, but almost unusable because of the smell. It a shame because it seems the problem is external and there's nothing that the owner can do. Hopefully the drainage system will be fixed soon and you'll be able to properly enjoy this nice hotel!!

Clean, but no service”

Clean room, convenient place near the street, around 5 minutes walk to the beach. You should not expect services, because the staff is rarely around the front office. You should call by phone or ask shopkeeper at the opposite side of the street to contact hotel staffs. However, cleanliness and lower price are valuable enough to stay, I think.

doesn't worth this price.”

nice appearance... only.

Worst part of my trip on Koh Samet. the bathroom is very smelly and not functioning well. some sort of excrement smell is with me throught my stay. the shower head is broken. water flows at the front... and so as the back of the shower head. the heater is not functioning neither. third, the staff is cruel unhelpful. we discoverer that the shower head and heater problem at around 10:00pm so we called the number at reception. all three numbers listed on the board are not connecting. the next day we finally reach the staff. we told her the problem and she just replied "no room left. all full." then of course she will not solve the smelly toilet problem for us. for the heather, she stepped in, did something, and told me it is fixed and then disappeared. But IT'S NOT FIXED at all. for this price you have much better choices on Koh Samet.

Brand New Building, but needs a lot of work”

Great price, spacious rooms

Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our stay here at the Ban Rak Samed Hotel. The location was far off of the beaten path, a good 10-15 min walk to the beach. Many people did not know where it was, and the hotel was the only new building in that area (by area I mean narrow and long dirt road). The rooms are alright, however the owner is rarely there and you have to call her to get her to come to the front desk a lot. In our bathroom, the water had a horrible smell, and came out yellow in both the toilet and the sink. The water actually stopped working for a couple hours the night we were there, and we had to call her to come fix it. All in all, the cons outweigh the pros. I would like to say something good about this hotel, but our stay was just very uncomfortable.

Not ideal”

When I booked the cheapest room I was expecting inhospitable conditions, but didn't expect the room to be unliveable. Initially they gave me the room A3 which had a laundry room attached that was filled with mould and with no air vent to let the mould out. That night was torture and the air was unbreathable. The following morning they agreed to change my room but were pushing for me to pay extra. I told them I don't need AC since it's not that hot in October, I don't care about twin bed/double bed. I just want a decent room for that money (not the cheapest room you can find in Koh Samed by far). The rest of the stay was better but I'm pretty sure the bed had bed bugs or some crawly insects because I've got disgusting swollen bites all over my body like I've never had before in my life! Had to go to the pharmacy to get a cream as the itch was unbereable. So if u go there, better bring along clean sheets and be sure you can handle the smell before the night's sleep.

Not more than average”

clean, location, price

Excellent location about 5 minutes from the pier and 10 from the beach and near every restaurants and bars. The hotel access is real mess ! full of dirt and water but i guess they can't do nothing about it. You have what you pay for and not more here, big enough and very clean rooms, a table outside for the smokers and a few Tv channel for the rainy days. For the bad part Staff is nor friendly or unfriendly they're just inexistant ! saw a men at check in only, and the check out was made by the owner of the food store on front of the hotel (maybe a friend). The internet connexion is unstable and almost inexistant as well. They will ask you a deposit (500 bht) for the keys. Called a staff member for check in a bit later as we were stuck on the rain but they asked a 150 bahts per hours late (!!!!). Overall average .. But for a 700 bahts what do you really expect :)

Decent hotel if you dont expect anything”

lesser number of rooms, Close to the main road and beach, close to some cafes

Would recommend this hotel only if you do not expect a lot. The rooms were clean , however the bathroom could have been better equipped with soaps etc. The geyser wasn't working. The staff was polite, language however was big barrier. There are a lot of start dogs right in front of the hotel , so if one is planning to get back late in the night, one needs to ensure that you dont run over the dogs or get bitten. It wasn't worth the price i paid for it at all, however due to year end madness can't complaint too much on the price point.
