A comfortable Pleasant stayed at Bajie Hostel”
It was a pleasant and comfortable stayed at Bajie Youth Hostel, very patient, helpful friendly staffs assisting travelers in their itineraries. Clean and comfortable rooms, even in their hangouts areas. Its a good place to stay for all types of travellers. If they have no squat toilets better. Location is downtown area, very near at the Tianmen Shan Cable cars terminal 10-15 minutes walks. This hostel is good for those travellers who are not picky.

Great backpackers, shame about the bathrooms”
My experience with this youth hostel was a bit shaky to start off, but in the end I'd definitely go back and recommend it to others. The disappointment began with the taxi driver, who dropped us off at the wrong hotel. This hotel called up the Baijie youth hostel and they sent a girl over to come find us and take us to the hotel. This impressed me a lot and. The next disappointment was that the room didn't come with air-conditioning included in the price you had to pay extra for it. Not expensive but annoying, would prefer it to be included. The next shock was the bathroom, shared squat toilets with the shower next to it. All in all I was worried about the place but for the price we paid we thought we'd stay one night (we booked three) and see how it was. In the end we stayed all three, the staff were friendly and helpful and organised all our events so that the stay there was perfect, Maps information, directions suggestions were all provided to us and were spot on. The bathroom takes a little getting use to but once you got over the shock it wasn't that bad and the bathrooms were always immaculately clean for us. If your thinking about staying at this place I'd stay but just don't have your expectations set at hotel levels, this is a youth hostel, and the friendly casual staff and other people are what make a good youth hostel.

Very nice homely hostel”
Located on the 24th floor of a residential flat, a family has transformed their apartment into a backpacker / youth hostel using capsules as sleeping units. The capsules give privacy and the family is very friendly and helpful to help getting you around Changsha. The place was hard to find for us and the directions that are given in the other review helped us eventually to find it. The flat is located north west of the Crown Plaza Hotel. There are no signs whatsoever outside of the building - or inside for that matter. You'll only know you found the place when you have actually entered the apartment. If you stand facing north with the main east west road behind you and face the Crown Plaza on your right walk down that street/alley that you see. On the right is an entrance to the Crown Plaza, on the left a residential flat. Walk on for about 50 meters and the next residential flat on the left is the one. Pass is while the building is on your left and turn left. Use the 2nd entrance (the east one) and dial 2401 on the pad at the door. Door opens and take the lift to the 24th.

Comfortable, great service from the hotel staff”
The staff at Bajie were very attentive to my needs. They helped me plan my trip to the National Park and moved my stay to their hostel in the National Park so I could easily visit all the attractions in 2 days (with their help you do not need a tour guide to see the National Park!) They provided information on all of the tourist activities and places to eat around the hostel. They also had discounts for some of the attractions. Overall my stay was comfortable, for a great price, and I got to do and see all of the things in the surrounding area with their help.

I stayed at the Bajie hostel mfor 2 nights but I wish I could have stayed longer! The staff was very helpful in arranging tours and sightseeing in the area. The rooms were big, clean and very comfortable. I would defiantly stay in this hotel again, I loved my time here.

Helpful staff, local flavor”
I just want to say first that the driver we had was awesome (to and from airport and the national park). I didn't know it was going to be cold, so he let me borrow his jacket. He went out of his way to help us with several other things. I tried to tip him but he refused. I liked that the style of the hostel and surrounding buildings were Chinese style. Having that local character makes it feel like you are really traveling. The room size and cleanliness was adequate but the bathroom could have been cleaner and the shower water drained way too slow. As for the staff, they were patient and helpful. All in all, it was safe, convenient (because the staff makes it so), and a good deal. We payed slightly more than hostel prices but were able to get private rooms and access to the hostel resources.

Fantastic Hostel”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bajie. It is an extremely clean hostel with all the amenities you could need. My only qualm was that it was on the fourth floor with no elevator but that is totally manageable (especially after you make it up the first time with your bag!). Great place!

Great value”
Bajie is a small budget hostel in the center of Zhangjiajie. There is a tour guide available every day in the evening and it was such a great help as we didn't know much about the Zhangjiajie attractions or how to get there. Our room supposed to be twin with a shared bathroom but we got a private bathroom and the toilet.

Great for backpack travelers”
We went to ZhangJiaJie for 4 days to visit their famous forest park and Tianmenshan (Heaven's gate mountain). Chose to stay at this hostel because I figured we would be out all day so didn't need to stay at star hotels. *If you want to maximize the value of the admission ticket to the forest park, then I suggest you to stay at the hostel inside the parks. Since the ticket is good for 3 days, but you can stay as long as you wish if you don't leave the mountain.* This hostel is a bit far from the forest park. You will need to take a 10 minute ride on the public bus (line 6 across the street from the hostel /1 rmb) to the bus terminal; then catch a van that goes to the forest park (10 rmb / 40 minute ride). I decided to deal with the commute because I like to have access to better food in the city compared to the limited choices up in the mountains. Oh, needless to say it helps if you speak Mandarin. However, the hostel staff speak good enough English to help you plan out your trip and point you to some hang out spots. Do remember that you will need to bring your own toiletries because it is a hostel after all. but no fear, there is a supermarket right downstairs where you can get everything you need.

One of the best YH's I have ever stayed in”
we loved our stay here. the trip from airport to yh is if i remember correctly. the driver carried our two 20kg suitcases all the way up the stairs on arrival. the ladies at reception were fantastic at helping us organise our four days in the area. the driver was awesome!! his personality, service, and help was all fantastic!! he was our driver for all four days, his price is very reasonable, he helped us get discounts on all our entrance fees, took us to nice chinese restaurants for lunch, and made sure our trip was just fantastic. the people at this yh bent over backwards to make sure our trip went smoothly, and it did. one of the best holidays i have ever had in china!!! i would not bother looking for any other accomodation in zhangjiajie, you will not be disappointed with this place!!!

Very nice hostel!”
Very nice hostel. We stayed there one night, and continued from here to their sister hostel in Zhangjiajie park. Unfortunately the one in the park was a little more expensive and not as good as the one in the city. The third night we stayed in the city again, but I couldn't sleep because of people shouting on the streets. This continued for almost 1,5 hours! So I went to the security guard to complain, unfortunately he didn't understand the fact people were shouting on the street under our room window at 3 am!! So this put a negative vibe on my stay here. But I still recommend this place.

Bajie Youth was located in the great location; a minute walk to the bus stop; a minute walk to the grocery store; a minute walk to the shopping street. Well what can you ask for more? Mandarin isn't our main language, but the staffs there were really helpful; their part-timers helped us a lot on our plan to visit Wulingyuan and Tianmenshan. You can also purchase a cheaper cable car ticket to Tiamenshan from here instead of the cable station.

Best youth hostel Ive ever been”
Zhangjiajie is one of the most amazing places Ive ever been. When we arrived there, we didn't have any itinerary yet, where to go, how, since I read in the internet that the staff in the hostel will provide/help you where to go. True enough, the staff were so helpful in planning our trip to the Forest Park even with limited English. Special mention to Shila who even went out of her way to print us our airplane ticket. The hostel does not have an elevator thou, and you have to climb the stairs to reach the 4th flr where the hostel is located.

shared bathrooms but basically 2 rooms to one bathroom. really nice, hostel staff are young and friendly and even did a load of washing for free for us! no dryer though bring a travels clothesline! big rooms, really peaceful at night even with the bar/club next door. up hill walk up the hill and 4 stairs is hard so pack light! ask at reception for help and ask about where to go and stay in the mountains/wulingyuan. they will provide a map and suggest a route nice for 2 days. they even have a hostel on the mountain if you want to transfer your stay from zjj city to the zjj mountain. although the hostel on the mountain is very basic - worth doing. start here and share a vehicle in the morning with fellow backpackers/stayers. multicultural and refreshing to stay in a place like this in china.

Good and was what I expected”
Stay at the hotel was good. Just make sure to bring your own toilet paper and soap for shower and the bathroom. However there is a grocerystore near the hostel so the location is easy to get to. The wifi in the hostel was a little slow but understandable with the number of people using the wifi. The staff was helpful but did not all speak english we had to wait for the staff that spoke english which came to the hostel during the evening so if you are just using for transit and arriving late and leaving early you might have trouble. But was very helpful for giving advice for visiting the national park. Helped make arrangements for our next hostel stay and transporting our bags to the next hostel. I would recommend just be warned that the beds in the dorm rooms are just a thin pad over wood brace so a bit uncomfortable and loud at night as there are night clubs next to the hostel.

A great hostel”
We had an amazing time in Zhangjiajie, spending one day in the park and one day up on Tianmen Shan. The staff were very helpful and arranged a driver to pick us up from the airport. We checked in and they arranged transport and gave us maps and raincoats. The rooms in A block do overlook a karaoke bar, which is very loud until 11pm, but the other blocks are quieter.

I really recomend to stay in this hostel if you are individual tourist, first time in China or do not know where you are and how to get to the mountains) You will find there very friendly and active girls. They planned for us shedule and routs. And also change our room to the room in their branch in the mountains,it was nice surprise) Rooms are ok, supermarket and bus station is near.

Excellent youth hostel”
The room is clean and comfortable. The roof terrace, balcony and public area are nicely decorated with wood furniture and little plants. It should be a very comfortable environment if it is not that cold for the weather. Do enjoy a lot in this hostel. All the staffs are very friendly and helpful and give good suggestions on the travelling route and food. We have a very warm feeling there and thanks for the good service.
