Wonderful stay”
We had the most amazing time at the Chintakiri Resort. After being picked up at the pier we were welcomed very warmly by the staff. Our bungalow was stunning, even nicer than on the photos, 2 floors with an incredible view from both bed and terrace. We could watch the wonderful and quiet! (no loud longtail boats going in and out) bay and the sunset. Also the view from the pool and the restaurant is amazing. Try to have at least one dinner there, the food is wonderful and not pricey at all. We also loved the breakfast (best one we had on the whole trip), you can choose from different kinds of breakfasts (American, English,…) but actually you can order all the single items you want. The staff is incredibly friendly and nice, internet worked fine and the bungalow was clean. Only the snorkelling equipment we rented there was of poor quality, but they didn’t charge us for it. As stated in the previous reviews, the resort is located on a very steep hill, so walking up the street is not that much fun, but we just rented a scooter and that worked well, we also had the freedom to explore the island. There are also many stairs in the resort, but that’s also quite charming. Carrying around luggage is quite a task, but the staff helps you with it. We would definitely recommend staying there, it was one of the best hotels of our trip and especially because of the quietness (and of course the view and food) that we couldn’t find at the other hotel we stayed in on Koh Tao.

All-in-all pretty good but with arrival problems”
The only reason I've downrated the Chintakiri is due to the problems we had when we first arrived. The problems (detailed below) really should of been addressed BEFORE the arrival of guests. OK, we were given a very warm welcome at Reception and showed up our bungalow (I now call it a bungahigh), and I do mean "UP" in every sense of the word as Chintakiri Resort is built on a near vertical cliff face with steps not for the faint-hearted. However, once in the bunga'high' several things were either broken, missing or not functioning properly:- 1. The air-con in the bedroom simply blew out hot air with the temperature in there an incredible 41ºC. 2.The shower squirted water everywhere except downwards. 3.No kettle or tea/coffee making. 4. Missing chairs for sitting at the table on the verandah. 5. Lights not working. Complaints made to reception resulted in pretty immediate attention and, I have to say, I was impressed that each and every one of the above problems were repaired or sorted within the hour which is impressive. Th point I'm making here is that I cannot understand why these rooms aren't checked out before guests arrive. They knew to the minute almost when we were to arrive and it would have been a simple thing to switch on the air-con so the room isn't stiflingly hot and to check that fittings are present and that they work. The whole place needs a coat of varnish and a lot more TLC. That's the negative part, On the positive side our bungalow(high) had a stupendous view of Chalok Baan Kao Bay. Once one has walked from the main road up the 30º plus steep access road and then up numerous flights of steps and stairs... and that's before one gets to the bungalow(high); it really is a climb and a half and definitely not for young children or the infirm. The staff are, simply, wonderful. Most are Burmese and are very smiling, helpful and caring. Breakfasts are simple but adequate and, again, served with charm and helpfulness. Once the air-con has been off for a f

Friendly staff with a superb view”
We had booked a diving course in Koh Tao but wanted to relax in the evenings, so we decided not to stick to the diving school resort. However, it took us several days to make our decision: the reviews on Chintakiri are scary about its "hilly" condition,,and they have proven to be right! Overall, the Chintakiri is OK, having a very welcoming and friendly staff, who will arrange whatever you need, and a superb view over Chalok Bay. On the con side, the steep hill you have to climb before you enjoy that beer-with-a-view, and the overpriced rooms.

amazing views, friendly staff”
We enjoyed our 4 night stay here, very friendly and helpful staff, particularly the manager who was most helpful in answering any questions we had. the food at the restaurant is reasonably priced and the thai food is superb. the pool is super clean and there are amazing unobstructed views across the chalok Baan Kao beach bay....quite spectacular. the rooms are comfortable and clean enough - separate bungalows with terrace. beds are comfortable and wifi is reliable and strong throughout the hotel. the walk up the road to the hotel is steep, but short, so not good for people who have difficulty walking. but worth it for the views, peace and quite away from the busy main road.

lovely resort i've never been before.”
it was fortunate that the final choice we made was not staying nearby siree village instead of the peaceful and also moderate infrastructural 'chalok baan kao'.a couple of good thai restaurants ,cosy bars and Seven eleven are pretty close to the resort.the calm beach is a stone's throw away.the accommodation was totally satisfiable and the reception staffs were very helpful in our every needs.our room had a stunning view towards the ocean (i think any other rooms seem to be like that).we stayed at this wonderful resort for 2 nights 'cause we were on the island for only 3 days.we really wished if we could stay much longer.we miss there already.

a little overpriced but a really nice hotel”
We stayed there for only one night. The hotel is at a very nice spot. The view was superb. The employee at the hotel were really sweet and helpful. Our room is very nice and over looking Chalok baan Kao beach which is quite beautiful. There isn't much to criticise about but we wished the hotel was a little cheaper. As a whole it is a relaxing hotel and suitable for almost the all kind of tourists except for the travellers who wish to have vibrant nightlife- you may wish to stay in another beach such as Sairee beach. But beach-wise Chalok-Baan Kao is more beautiful

My best hotel in Thailand”
Our stay in Chintakiri has been delightful and If one day I go back to Koh Tao I will definitively go back there. The staff have been very friendly and helpful during the all stay. And on top of that, they made perfect cocktails that they bring to us in the pool so we can have an awesome view from inside the pool, looking at the sea with our cocktails in hand...the dream!!! And the Thai dishes were very good. In summary, we had thanks to Chintakiri staff a perfect time in Koh Tao. I recommend it to anybody who wants to have some relax time, with very quiet environment.

Awesome place with nice scenery! Recommend to everyone!”
Wow, just realised I forgot to write a review for this wonderful place! Me and my friend went to Koh Tao in last December and we had a wonderful time staying in Chintakiri Resort! We love the swimming pool and the friendly staffs, they are very helpful and friendly. Picked us up in the dock and offered lots of nice advice! And the breakfast was delicious too. Really miss there, wish I could go back soon!

Spectacular view that will stay in your eyes”
If you are looking for a bit secluded place that is away from big crowd and noise from the loud bar that is the place to go for. Chintakiri offers really professional service. Staff is special attentive and they will take good care for you. They provide also free pick up and for us also drop off from the main pier. I did not have any particular need to go to Saree beach as I enjoyed Chalook bay. certainly it is less crowded with tourists and it offers also a spectacular nature surroundings. Rooms were in very good condition and we did not have any bad word about it. A view from each balcony faces the bay so you will enjoy it. The higher you are the better it will be. Pool is small but still it offers great pleasure with jacuzzi and also for small kids. Food in the restaurant is very good. I tried a variety of restaurant at Chalook bay and I found Chintakiri best. Specially I enjoyed beef salad and Tom Yum. Chintakiri have also quite deent library with books and also good magazines. There are also some games you can play and free DVD rent for late evenings. As a couple we enjoyed a lot and would definetenely recomment it to everyone searching for a bit secluded, clean and quiet accomodation. Regarding the price. You get what you pay for. All the best to the staff that take good care of the place. I saw that place is quite popular among the couples, young families and young flashpackers I guess :). There is a reason as an access is steep and some of the people might not like that. But no problem if you like a short hiking and exercise. This is always good to have. From Chintakiri to the beach is only 5 min. Up a little bit more. Best beach for me on this side was Freedom beach and it is around 15-20 minutes away (walking). You can also book snorling trip with them and you will get same price as everywhere else. They will also pick you up and drop you off. Till next time, d & a

Beautiful views and lovely rooms”
We had a wonderful four night stay at Chintakiri. The resort is great - not too big (20 rooms I think), has wonderful views and a lovely pool / restaurant area. Unfortunately the weather whilst we were in Koh Tao was not that great so we couldn't enjoy the pool area and view as much as we might have liked. The resort is (a) up a very steep hill and (b) quite far out of town - if you plan to be going in to town on several occassions, I would recommend hiring a bike - we did this and made our stay much easier. The rooms are great - lovely bathrooms and our rooms has a great deck too. My only critcism would be the breakfasts - for the price you are paying, I didn't they were up to scratch.

Scenic, clean, hosptiable and inviting.”
chintakiri surpassed our expectations. we were met at the port by hotel staff. our stay started off with a warm welcome which set the vibe for a wonderful, relaxing stay. the restaurant food was superb and the staff and service was exceptional. i would only warn those who are not physically fit that there is quite the climb to the resort and the decent can be precarious when rainy. as well, there are no outlets in the bathroom for shaving/hairdryer etc so be prepared to embrace your casual side. my suggestion to the resort would be to get a deal with one of the beach-side resorts to allow chintakiri guests to use their beach chairs, umbrellas and shower. often the sun was so hot and we did not have any shade on the beach to relax.

Excellent”
I was there for 2 nights on 18-20 of May 2019. I was with my boyfriend and for the first time of me to be at Koh Tao and this place is really great of every kind! I chose this place cause of the view which is shown on agoda app. And that isn’t disappoint me at all. The view of this place is so beautiful but the way of coming here is quite tough and steep so the best way to come here is to ride a motorbike and please be careful of it. Staffs are fluent to speak english and very kind. About the room, i love it! Room is comfortable and wide and really looking good it’s like the bathroom is on upstair and bedroom is downstair and also the balcony you can see all the view of the sea here at your room. Breakfast is fine it is not buffet thing but you can choose ABF or others on the menu. The location of this hotel is super close to Chalok Bankao Bay, which would give you just a step to the beach and enjoy the tanning things! Most importantly the John suwan viewpoint is not far from here tho!

A little gem”
We loved our stay at Chintakiri Resort. It was a little stretch for our budget but once we got there, we didn't care because it was just so good. Lovely cleverly designed rooms, all with stunning ocean views, small pool but with infinity edge and the stunning view too. Lovely staff, great and generous breakfast, quiet, private, gorgeous garden, other options a walk away if you don't want to eat at the restaurant (which was good but naturally pricier than local fare in less attractive locations). As a hotelier, I really thought about negatives at this resort and only came up with it is up t a steep but short hill, otherwise pretty spot on for the price. And it is hard to get a booking as they are so good!! We extended our stay and felt blissed out after being here.

Loveliest hotel on the whole island”
Will always stay in this hotel when visiting Koh Tao, a tad on the expensive side but so worth the wonderful attention. At chintakiri the staff are simply amazing and will help you no matter what. The view is incredible and the food is great right in the hotel which makes relaxing so easy. Hard walk up a hill to get to it but so worth the view and the lovely verdant setting. Rooms are spacious, well maintained and clean. Cannot recommend this place more!

Large modern rooms with a picturesque view”
We were initially disappointed that Chintakiri would not provide pick-up service from another resort on the island. We had to find our own transportation. Once there, we were very pleased with the place. The infinity swimming pool is located in the front, and from it guests have a panoramic view of the beach, mountains, and ocean. There are nice lounge chairsw around the pool, and a bar overlooks the whole set-up. The restaurant is an open-air concept, which is ideal since the resort is situated atop a hill. The rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. There is little "Thai" decor. The walk-in shower is especially large. We had some incredible food at the restaurant for very reasonable prices. They do both western and eastern food well. Their complimentary breakfast was quite nice as well. Service at the resort is exceptional. They catered to our needs in our rooms, and were very attentive in the dining area as well.

Stunning resort! Impeccable service”
We loved our stay at Chintakiri Resort. We can't wait to come back again! The bungalows are beautiful and the bed and bedding are the best we have experienced. The views from bungalow and dining room/ pool are awe inspiring. Food and cocktails were delicious every time. Best breakfast and coffee on trip, so far. The staff are so warm and friendly and are very helpful with anything you need. Important to note that the whole island is without sewage. Everything is on septic. So no toilet paper in the toilets. The hose next to you will power spray you clean! Many reviews have mentioned the steep hill. It is steep but totally do- able. The whole area is steep.

Fantastic Hotel with a absolutely stunning view.”
The rooms at Chintakiri are above average in Thailand and are great value for money. The hotel is situated on a hill side with magnificent views of the bay below. The difference for me was the helpful hotel staff who were the friendliest I encounted in Thailand. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone staying on Koh Tao.

Stunning seaviews”
The Deluxe rooms have a terrace with explendid seaviews of the Chalok Baan Kao Bay. The room is very nice, with a big and comfortable bed and a second floor with the bathromm and a big shower. The breakfast and fruit shakes were very tasty. The service was very good. The Internet connection was Ok. The swimmingpool has also nice seaviews, but is small. The Hotel is up on a hill, so you need to rent a motorbike or get there with a car. Walking is too tyring. We will recommend it too friends and will stay there again. They have googles and the staff to snorking, but you have to pay 50Bahts per day to rent it.

Perfect relaxation retreat”
We stayed for three nights at the Chintakiri Resort in January 2013, and it was one of the major highlights of our Thailand trip. The resort was, for us, the perfect relaxation getaway. It really is as beautiful as the pictures. The view from each room, the restaurant, and the pool is amazing. The staff is extremely attentive. The food at the restaurant was some of the best of our trip. If you want somewhere to relax and gaze out at nature and the water, this is it. This is not a great place if you want to spend allot of time on the beach, since obviously they don't have beach space with lounge chairs or the like.
