Beautiful Hotel, Highly Recommend”
Anilana Nilaveli is a beautiful beach front location & beach also so lovely. Large clean rooms, enormous bathroom. All staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly, often going over and above to ensure we were happy and comfortable. Food was wonderful and this is an experience not to be missed. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Wish you all the best. Cheers.

Exceptional”
We absolutely loved our stay at Anilana Nilaveli Resort. The hotel and room were clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was fantastic and catered for Gluten Free. There are boats sitting on the beach outside the resort waiting to take you to Pigeon Island.

Very relaxing”
To be honest the food was really good. Really really good. In love with the creamy pasta and the chocolate mousse . pay more attention before serving the butter and jams. the butter which you guys served for us was not so good. and for the morning breakfast bread boul add more buns and try to serve some sorta cheese. The rooms, it was good but not excellent because they have not served milk or the cream pkts in the room. at last i would like to say that Anilana Nilaveli is one of the most beautiful and relaxing place. The best place to relax i guess. Our family went there to stay only one night. even we have booked for one night but as according to situation of the hotel we extended the stay for 2 nights.

Perfect getaway, fantastic staff and oasis of tranquility”
We have just returned from Sri Lanka where we travelled around a bit and I had looked for somewhere that I thought would be relaxing with a bit of style for the final days. Anilani Nilaveli Resort was the perfect choice. The staff were wonderful, they could not do more to make our stay perfect. As it is right at the start of the season, the hotel was very quiet which meant that the breakfast and dinner buffets were usually not available, but the staff made sure that we still had plenty of choice and were very happy with everything. The hotel is very beautiful and if you are looking for a tranquil get away right on the beach, this is perfect. We were feeling very lazy so mainly read by the pool, went swimming in the sea, did some jet skiing and a fantastic snorkelling trip to Pigeon Island. I would not hesitate to return again and was sad to leave it behind. The food was very high quality, the rooms were large and beautifully designed.

Best on offer..... and we looked around in person too!”
After reading many reviews and doing our research we were a bit hesitant after reading some reviews that pointed out this hotel is a 'concrete block.' Like all reviews, you have to sift through them all and find a happy medium; therefore, we went for it. And how thrilled are we that we did. The hospitality is warm, sincere and authentic. Roy (Head of F&B) was sensational. Do strike up a conversation with him and learn more about the Sri Lankan customs, culture and food. The beach is rustic and unassuming. Yes, there is some debris and plastic washed up, where in the world isn't there. Don't let this get in the way of taking a swim in the green clear waters, with rolling waves...There are two large pools, ideal for families and kids. Which was perfect for us as it prevented kids running riot around the beach lounges on the sand. Normally resorts can charge outrages prices for food and drinks as they have you in there snare. At Anilana, we were shocked at how reasonable the prices are!

Exceptional”
We stayed at anilana for two nights, and so far this is one of the best stays we have ever had. The staff is amazing, Lasantha who is in the front office and Kajan in the restaurant was exceptional. Their food is just out of this world . I think it’s the best place in Trincomalee if anyone is going that way.

Overpriced but a taste of luxury”
We splurged and stayed here for 3 nights at a cost of £250 a night, having booked 6 months ahead!- what you don't expect is to see on Agoda the price slashed to £90 on the day we arrived, when all their rooms weren't sold out. I recognise they need to sell their rooms but this a big difference. I spoke to the manager regarding this and he did upgrade our stay to half board. This was appreciated. The room was lovely it must be said, the luxury you expect. The pool areas were also great to use but they do need to upgrade their hut areas which are becoming dated. This is very easy to see when their theme is white. The food we thought was amazing, especially the buffet when put on. But if you are only offered the a la cart menu we can see how some people may find it limited. On the whole it's by far the best place to stay in Nilaveli but I would not return as the beach itself is polluted with oil, from all the boats crossing to Pigeon island, plus there are cow pats which ruin the look and little jellyfish are in the sea which my wife was stung by.

Outstanding staff and excellent food”
We spent five. If bts iver Christmas at Anilana. The hotel was great, we had a pool chalet and the room was spacious with a nicely apportioned outdoor shower. The staff, from waiters to the chef to the managers were all very friendly and kind. The hotel is situated along a deserted beach with outstanding views of Pigeon Island.

Best on offer, on balance.”
Reading previous reviews about this particular being a 'block of concrete' did raise some questions for us. The staff are warm, friendly and willing to go the extra mile. For a resort, the Food and Beverage prices were fair, and the offering were diverse and flavorsome! Beautiful, rustic and unspoiled beach await you. Yes, there is some washed up debris and plastic, but where isn't there the world over?! You get a sense that this place will be booming in a few years. Hopefully, this little gem does not become too commercial and they keep this place as humble as possible, which gives it its charm and sleepy personality, in a good way! The pool is great for families and little kids. Perfect for us who wanted quite time on the beach to relax without screaming kids running a riot. Overall, very happy with our stay. Roy (Head of F&B) is a delight. Make the effort to get to know him by striking up a conversation. Will be back!

Excellent stay”
The overall was an excellent stay. The hotel has a high standard in everything they offer being just one year old. The hotel is located at a wide white sand beach with no shell on the beach or water which makes the beach wonderful. Although the beach is officially not private it is not allowed for local to be on the beach or sea in front of the hotel. The sunbeds have thick matrasses and all have a parasol. In addition they offer two swimming pools which guarantees a high level of privacy. The hotel and rooms are nicely decorated and will all comfort. The food is of a high standard and the buffet bbq was really good, including besides the regular meat and fish tuna, steak and lamb. The staff is of a high standard in service, especially the restaurant manager and reception are working hard to make you stay the best. Visiting many hotels around the world this is what I would like to experience every time. The only thing which I did not understand was the dirty spots in the white furniture in the room as well the beds had no bedframe looking messy and distracting from the overall high standard.

Amazing place!!”
The staff were very attentive and helpful, they couldn't do enough to satisfy any request. The food was amazing and so generous, the head chef came out each night to see if we were happy. The beach was beautiful and empty!! Basically no scouts around either. This is the best place I have stayed in any country for a long time!!! Well done Anilana.

Great stay!”
We had a brilliant time at Anilana, the staff are very friendly and the pools were great. We went across to pigeon island whilst we were there which was amazing! Definitely recommend this. We also went on the hotel whale and dolphin watching trip which was really enjoyable! Unfortunately we didn't see any whales, but there were loads of dolphins, a great boat, breakfast, lunch and snorkelling. The hotel is a bit further away from restaurants but would still recommend it.

Not all that glitters is gold”
You may be impressed by the pictures of the hotel, but the truth is that this place is disappointing in many ways. Let me point out some of the reasons why staying at Anilana Nilaveli let me down: 1) My room was infested with tiny ants and, on the first night, I had to empty my cosmetics bag and clean absolutely every item in it to get rid of the hundreds of ants that had decided to invade my items. It thought they'd been gone by the morning but, to my surprise, my wardrobe shelf was full of ants again. The hotel manager gave me another room, which meant packing and unpacking everything again. 2) The female toilet by the pool was dirty from day one, and even though the cleaners were informed, the toilet was never cleaned during my three day stay. 3) The wifi works well in the common areas, but forget about getting a decent signal in the upstairs rooms. Considering this is a place where you have nowhere to go, having good wifi is important. 4) Drivers / guides in Sri Lanka are usually given accommodation in the hotels where tourists stay. This is no exception, but our driver complained about bed bugs in his and all other beds provided for drivers. It is unacceptable that a hotel that claims to be five stars treats locals with such disrespect. He told us that even though he had complained about this, nobody had done anything to solve the problem. The hotel itself is beautiful and the beach is decent, but overall it is a place that should not be rated 5 stars.

Memorable Stay”
We stayed there for two days. Staff was really friendly. If you are vegetarian, then you might have less options. But food was awesome. We had a seeni sambol pizza, which was good. Breakfast was really great. So much variety to taste. We were fortunate enough to go for snorkeling even though it is the beginning of off season. It was a memorable stay for us. Thanks Anilana

High expectations ”
We had four nights here and had high hopes, but unfortunately they weren’t met. The location is great, on the beautiful Nilaveli beach, and the room itself was comfortable, but the staff and the general atmosphere in the hotel were lacking. Some areas of the hotel are a bit tired. The beach bar wasn’t open, and we actually spent more time in the hotel next door, which had a lovely beach bar and restaurant and the staff were far friendlier. On our first night at the Anilana, we decided to eat dinner in the restaurant. The food was ok, although we were disappointed the hotel doesn’t have a licence to serve alcohol so we weren’t able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage with our meals. The manager was quite abrupt and didn’t seem apologetic about the fact that this wasn’t made clear to us. There were also loads of flies in the restaurant- particularly during breakfast time. Overall, good location and comfy room, but didn’t quite live up to our expectations of a luxury resort.

The Isolated White House”
Beautiful spot outside Trincomalee, a huge hotel, but hardly anyone staying there. A beautiful cosy spot on the lovely beach, no touts or hordes of tourists, its a lovely place to spend a quiet few days. Breakfast is fantastic, most of the staff are absolutely lovely and helpful. <Much better being in the quiet seclusion of Nilavelli that in the bustling town of Trinco.
