Fantastic stay - exceeded all expectations”

I stayed at Amagi Lagoon resort & spa for 8 nights with my boyfriend. I would highly recommend this hotel for a number of reasons. Firstly it's in a great location (only a ten minute journey to the beach & main restaurants) Negombo is a beautiful area & all the locals are very friendly. The staff at the hotel were excellent, everyone was very welcoming and fluent in speaking English. We booked a couple of day excursions with the hotel & had a fantastic time, we told them what sort of things we wanted to do and see and they booked us an appropriate trip. The room was clean and very comfortable, with air conditioning. The days that we spent at the hotels poolside were very peaceful, with very little noise. Overall we felt this hotel was extremely good value for money & would highly recommend it.

Great hotel near the Colombo airport ”

We opted to stay in negombo because our flight arrived very late. Negombo is where the Colombo airport is located and staying near the airport sure beats a long drive into downtown Colombo when it is so late at night. The hotel is less than 6km from the airport and I suggest taking a taxi as it can be a little rough to go that far in a tuk tuk. Anyway, the amagi is a very clean and nice hotel and it's located on the lagoon. The view from the breakfast area is beautiful and so relaxing. Staff were nice and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel close to the airport.

Amazing Staff!!”

I choose Amagi Aria to celebrate our anniversary and wanted a special arrangement on the deck over looking the lagoon and mentioned that i wanted to surprise my better half. The staff was very accommodating and went above and beyond to make it so special with an amazing arrangement of a private table nicely lit and a 7 course meal which was exquisite.

Great hotel”

Amagi Lagoon Resort & Spa is a perfect choice if you are looking for a good hotel near the airport. It is like 10 min drive away from the airport and located in a very quiet and private location. Hotel was new and very modern. rooms were good sized and clean. beds were very comfortable. While I was traveling around sri lanka I stayed in 6 different hotels and I must say that I had the best food at Amagi plus the best massage in sri lanka, so if you have time for a massage I would advise you to book one while you are staying at Amagi

We had an excellent stay at Amagi Aria. The place is very nice, Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff. Lagoon view is superb. Really enjoyed the each moment we spent at Amagi Aria.

Luxurious Touch Close to the Airport”

We stayed at Amagi Lagoon for one night at the end of a two week adventure through Southern and Central Sri Lanka. Although it seemed a little pricey, we were looking for a bit of luxury and peace of mind before heading to the airport the following day. Given the supply and demand for such a request, Amagi lived up to our standards. The hotel is still relatively new, but what the staff lacks in polish, they make up in sincerity; and, with good mentors aboard, things will only get better. We enjoyed a couple of cold drinks in the evening and a splendid buffet breakfast the next morning before hopping in the hotel arranged tuk-tuk for a final white-knuckled to the airport. During our stay, the gym was not fully completed and a few other services were still a short time from being fully functional, so I can only give a rating of 4 for that criteria but expect it to improve in due course.

Fantastic airporthotel”

Amagi Lagoon Resort is a great choice for an overnight stay. It is very close to the airport (10 minutes). The rooms are big, nicely decorated and very clean. They have everything you might possibly need: clean, comfortable bathroom with all amenities, coffee and tea making facilities, big comfortable bed, beautiful balcony, iron and iron board, safe, bathrobes, … The hotel is brand new and very nice with a good restaurant, a big swimming pool, comfortable sun loungers, a cozy restaurant with great food. The staff is really very kind and helpful. They speak good English and they try to attend to every wish you might have. The price/quality is very good. We absolutely like to recommend this hotel to everyone who needs an overnight stay close to the airport. We think it is one of the best options you have in Sri Lanka.

Lovely Hotel and pleasent staff ”

we stayed at amagi lagoon resort and spa for the second time during our trip to sri lanka. this time as well we were greeted with the same warmth as before. hotel rooms were very comfortable and neat. although is is a bit far from main colombo, but is close to the airport and that is why we choose it. it is on lagoon and you can get nice views of the lagoon. it has a nice swimming pool and a tree house as well. if someone is looking for a nice hotel close to the airport for a short stay amagi lagoon resort and spa may be the best.

bearing in mind that this is a very new hotel, and there are still many aspects to be put in place, it was, nonetheless a warm, welcoming place in a beautiful setting. the rooms were a little on the small side, but tastefully done, with little balconies to sit out on in the evenings, or even to take, breakfast, if you didn't wish to go to the restaurant. the food was good, but as the hotel is new, they hadn't still gotten their liquor license which was a pity as the evening meal in particular, being western, could have been complimented with a nice glass of wine!as such, the minibar too, was not stocked! also, noo spa as yet - likely to be opened soon. the main downside is the noise factor - not soundproof. also, the roof - which is made of a metallic substance which makes sounds very loud indeed, even when a crow perches on it, (which they tend to do very early in the mornings), was a problem! this made resting, or even watching tv without turning up the volume, virtually impossible. however, i have been assured by the hotel management that this problem will be looked into. however, this was the only glitch in an otherwise very pleasant stay. the staff are wonderful - very caring and attentive. i do hope they do not change as the hotel picks up, as sometimes happens, when the attempt to come across ultra professional tends to mar the unique warmth of the staff. i wish amagi every success - with a little more effort to get the finer points in order, they should do well.a lovely little hotel!

High quality resort in Negombo”

Rooms are very comfortable spacious and clean. Staff are very attentive and helpful at all times. Such a pity tourism has dropped off. Sri Lanka is open for business and Amagi Aria is well worth a visit

Beautiful new resort with excellent service”

to throw my hat in the location debate -- i do not think it is a negative. it is only 10-15 minutes from the airport and feels very safe / secluded. soon all the drivers will know the location, but until then, see my travel tip! despite arriving after midnight, a group of employees greeted us with a cold towel and drink and carried our bags to our deluxe room. this room is a suite, and unless you need two queen beds, i'd say go with the premier room which shares the same great balcony view over the lagoon. our bed was decorated with intricate "towel sculptures" and flowers -- begged for a photo! staying one full day, we utilized the breakfast, wifi, and concierge services. staff was extremely friendly and bent over backwards to help us. our driver gave us a great tour of the negombo area and waited while we visited a spa, ate lunch, and shopped. back at the hotel, we asked if the chef could cook us local sri lankan food for dinner. we were not disappointed! they seated us at a private table in the tree house bar, and we enjoyed 6 spicy sri lankan delicacies -- our best meal of the trip! you can ask for it! the resort will soon have its spa open, and it seemed like most of the kinks from the "soft opening" had been worked out. it was nice to have brand new linens, towels, etc. the pool, airy modern design of the property, and grounds were magnificent. one area of improvement could be the weatherstripping on the door to the room, as it was not sufficient to keep bugs / ants out of the room. that said, we had minimal issues and frankly expect the occasional bug or mosquito in a tropical country. overall, we loved this resort and will return here again!

Great Hotel First Class Roof Restaurant”

Amagi Aria is away from the main strip, which is why I liked it. It's more elegant and comfortable without the hubbub noise round you so it's great to relax. The main area of the strip is 500rps £2.50 on a tuc tuc so no problem. Great food. First Class roof restaurant with views over the area. Brilliant food, highly recommend. Maggie Jan 2018

Great first stop after landing”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Amagi Lagoon Resort & Spa. We wanted a hotel close to the airport and didn't want to go into Colombo. The hotel provides a airport free shuttle service which was really convenient. The hotel itself is located on the edge of a lake in a quite corner of Negomo. The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely put together with balconies overlooking the pool, mangroves and lake. The moment we arrived we felt like we were on holiday.

A nice location to relax at the beginning or end of your trip”

The hotel is situated on the lagoon and offers a relaxing environment in which to unwind after navigating the crazy streets of Negombo. The staff are fantastic and substantially increase the value of the hotel. Rooms are well equipped and the Deluxe lagoon view rooms are particularly attractive. The food on site is reasonably priced and the curry lunches are delicious. The swimming pool is well maintained and the entire property is kept exceptionally clean. We would recommend the hotel for any travelers looking for somewhere to rest before or after their flight.

Great Place to be at”

I was upset with Sri Lanka as a destination but Amagi Aria is too good even with the hot weather, it's a picture perfect place with good staff. It's mesmerising beauty.

Lovely service, convenient location, great food!”

Our family of 9 stayed at this property for a night during the 3rd week of August'2012. What a lovely experience it was. Located close to the airport, the resort is tucked away near the main road. Once we entered the gates it was so quite and peaceful in there. We got rooms with the lagoon view and it was fantastic. All the staff members were friendly...they were always smiling and seemed genuinely pleased to make our stay comfortable. A big thank you to the senior management, Nayana, Manjula and his team, Melvin and his team - we will not forget our stay at Amagi...we will surely return to get pampered by you again!! Our family is still talking about the yummy food that we had there. Thank you for your suggestions! Oh and the massages that we had at the spa - hmmmm! The welcome drink (fresh fruit juice) and the cold towel that you gave us on arrival were indeed refreshing. What a great way to start the experience...and it just got better and better. Beautiful Hotel”

It was a very warming reception by the employees of Amagi. When I stayed here, the hotel had only been open 2 weeks. Everything was very new and clean. There was a mix up with my Agoda reservation but in the end we were able to work everything out. It was a bit difficult to find, as it is lagoon side. So you will not be able to see it off of the main road. The seclusion of it makes for a quiet, enjoyable stay.

Amazing sunsets and very nice clean hotel not far from the airport”

Very clean hotel with decent swimming pool and gorgeous sunset views. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. Great location in Negombo just a couple of hundred metres away from the main road so the hotel is peaceful. Still an easy distance to the airport. Food and drinks are ok and well priced. Breakfast is reasonable but not out of this world. Gym is a bit of a disappointment The security was really friendly to me but can be a bit unwelcoming to Uber taxis and tuktuks. I have no idea why!

Srilanka tour”

Stayed in Amagi on first night of Sri Lanka touring holiday. Lovely hotel, Clean rooms, great pool and lovely view of lagoon. Food good and staff very friendly and helpful.
